The Tunnels are a section that can be unlocked by beating Nights 1, 2, 3 and 4, their main inhabitant being Hourglass. After Night 4, Tunnels are set alight by Jake Smith, killing Hourglass and prompting MOTHER to attack him in the very next night.
To beat the Tunnels and escape them until the next night, the player should hear a ring of a bell if they are moving in the right direction. Hourglass moves through the tunnels along with the player. If the player spots it with the lighter on, there's a chance for Hourglass to run off, but if it doesn't happen, the player is forced to run away with little time before being jumpscared, or it happens instantly. The player is able to use the lighter by right clicking.
Appearance[]
The Tunnels have the appearance of an endless maze, it has a lot of papers scattered on the floor, pipes in certain locations as well as gates which block the player from moving too far away from the main map.
Inhabitants[]
Hourglass resides inside the Tunnels, being the only enemy in the main game who will hunt the player inside of them.
Slenderman and Eyeless Jack are seen inside the Tunnels in their respective challenges in the Custom Night.
Trivia[]
- The Tunnels were planned to be more ambitious, while the graphics were outdated, there was planned to be a door mechanic and fully animated walking controlled by WASD keys, this concept was brought back later for version 2.0 of the game being point and click, but the door mechanic has still been scrapped.
- It is entirely possible to beat the tunnels by not using the lighter since Hourglass will only attack when the Lighter is on and you can only hear the bell ringing if you aren't using said lighter.
- This is no longer possible as of 2.0, as Hourglass can detect you even if the lighter is off, and you can no longer move without the lighter on.
