“ | The sights of hell bring its viewers back in. | ” |
Mortimer is an Easter Egg antagonist in Treasure Island.
Appearance
Gen 1
Mortimer is a monochrome Mickey Mouse toon with glowing-white eyes and human-esque teeth in his mouth, and wears entirely white shorts, gloves and shoes. He also has wires coming out of various parts of his body. Like the rest of the other toons, Mortimer is considerably melted and distorted. He is based on the suicidemouse.avi creepypasta, where a monochrome version of Mickey Mouse walks down an empty street while distorted music and other sounds play.
Gen 2
Mortimer retains the same model as he does in Oblitus Casa; He's a monochrome Mickey Mouse character with static filled in his eyes, human-esque teeth in his wide hanging mouth, and a large mass of wires coming out of him. He wears entirely gray shorts, gloves and shoes. Additionally he has dark stains splattered all around his body.
Behavior
Mortimer can rarely activate on early nights, and will activate completely at random, using the cameras or not. Once he becomes active himself, his route to the Office the player is located in can be delayed by staring at him in the camera. If he does appear, you will hear the iconic music from the creepypasta video recreation play, and the TVs in the Broadcasting Studio will turn on. Every other character active that night will deactivate as well. He will start in the aforementioned room and will slowly take a direct path to the Office through the Mascot Prep, the Staff Hall and the Freezer. Each camera he is on will turn monochrome and vertically shake, along with replacing any merchandise in Mortimer's radius to have a promotional poster of a vintage version of the original Mickey Mouse smiling, such as the shirts in the Mascot Prep, and the posters in the Staff Hall and the Freezer. The Office will also turn monochrome and shake when he is in it. He will appear to the right of the Treasure Island sign. Shut off a camera or turn off the lights to restrain him out of the Office. Failure to do so in time, the screen will go black and white, and then Mortimer will eventually kill the player, ending the night.
When Mortimer's music ends, Mortimer will deactivate and every active character that was deactivated will reactivate.
The only night he is disabled on is Night 6 during the player's battle with Hourglass, as Mortimer's ability to deactivate every currently active character would interfere with Hourglass' advancements and give the player an advantage to complete the night easily.

Trivia
- Mortimer's design is based on Sid's dead body from the "Lost Episodes" creepypasta written by Slimebeast as Well as Suicidemouse.avi.[1]
- As stated in the quote above, the only actual instrument in Mortimer's leitmotif is a piano, presumably a grand piano, played in no particular melody, key or rhythm.
- In Five Nights at Treasure Island, Mortimer lacks a lore revelance to the main story of the game; thus making him minor to the plot of the game. However, he exists in the universe of the game. This also applies to Mascot Photo-Negative Mickey.
- Mortimer was first added into FNaTI in Remastered 1.0, and was simply named Suicide Mouse at the time.
- In the creepypasta and Remastered 1.0, Mortimer walked with his hands behind his back.
- In the real world, "Mortimer Mouse" is the first name Walt Disney used for Mickey Mouse, before he changed it according to Lillian's, his wife, recommendations.[2][3]
- Mortimer is the only character in the game capable of significantly changing the theme and atmosphere of their own location.
- Being a more lively supernatural being based on one of the few first versions of Mickey Mouse, Mortimer changes everything within his radius into a physical caricature of the video on a vintage grayscale film reel.
- Mortimer is also the only character in Treasure Island to possess luminescent eyes that fill the sockets and perennially stay alight throughout their homicidal activity.
- The only other character who possesses eyes that are capable of this style of luminescence is Undying, as demonstrated in his hallucination during the cutscene at the end of Pirate Caverns 1, except that they only light up briefly during this specific hallucination. Since this happens during a hallucination, it is unknown if Undying can physically do this.
- Besides Impurity and Hourglass, Mortimer is the third character in the game known to possess unnaturally realistic human teeth in the confines of their mouth.
- Mortimer is the only Easter Egg character to behave similarly to the antagonists of the main nights: being in the camera's view every phase; having a set route to the player's Office; requiring a foundational game mechanic to progress the night and prevent him from killing the player.
- One would assume Mortimer got his name from the other mouse in the "Mickey Mouse" series. However, this has been debunked. Mortimer actually gets his name from the word, "Mortem." Which means death in Latin.
- It has been said that Mortimer was made a toon by accident. His species was corrected in Oblitus Casa.

Extras Bio
"Originating from the classic creepypasta 'suicidemouse.avi', Mortimer first appeared in Remastered 1.0 of FNaTI. At first named 'Suicide Mouse', he was brought back in FNaTI 6.0 and given the name 'Mortimer' alongside an updated redesign based off of the creepypasta 'Lost Episodes', which was written by Slimebeast."
Appearance
Mortimer has been given a redesign, much like the other returning characters from Treasure Island. His shorts are now light grey with rounder buttons, he has more amount of wires coming out of him, and his mouth now constantly hangs open. Additionally, because he's not a toon anymore, he is no longer melted, and his eyes are now filled with static instead of being pure white. Instead, several small black stains are splattered around his attire, especially around his clothing. His lips and the outer parts of his eye-sockets are filled with black stains as well.
Behavior
Like in the previous game, Mortimer can rarely activate at a completely randomized chance during most nights. However, unlike in the previous game, he will only be able to activate from Night 2 onward instead of Night 1. Regardless of using the cameras or not, he will still activate, causing every other activated character to deactivate in the process. Upon activation, the iconic music from the creepypasta video recreation (suicidemouse.avi) will play, the TV on CAM 8 will turn on, revealing a promotional postor of a vintage version of the original Mickey Mouse smiling. It will then remain on for as long as he is active.
He will then begin on said camera and, unlike most other characters, take a straight route to the Office through CAM 7, CAM 1, CAM 3 and CAM 6 while playing his signature music, which is noticeably distorted. Mortimer retains the same effects on his surroundings as he did in the previous game: each camera he is on will turn monochrome and vertically shake (including the screen), along with replacing any merchandise in Mortimer's radius to have a promotional poster of a vintage version of the original Mickey Mouse smiling, such as the books and and posters in CAM 6, and the posters, the TV and the Discovery Island sign in the Office, and the latter even applying to the Office this time around.
However, unlike the rest of the other character in either game (nor even his original counterpart in the previous game), there is pratically no method for the player to defend themselves against him at all. Once he accesses to the Office, he will never leave, and the player only has two choices: either let Mortimer kill the player or hide in the Attic until 6 AM, with the latter due to Mortimer being unable to attack while the player is in the Attic. However, while playing the music in the cameras the player is desired to lure a toon in does not work on Mortimer at all, watching him in the cameras he currently accesses will delay his journey to the Office.
NOTE: current patches (2.0.0 or later) Mortimer can now kill you even if you are trying to hide in the Attic which it won't work for him once he enters in the Office.
Mortimer is disabled during Night 5, for the same reason as him being disabled on Night 6 in the previous game: as Mortimer's ability to deactivate every currently active character would interfere with MickMick's (and MOTHER) advancements and give the player an advantage to complete the night easily.

Trivia
- It was confirmed in a tweet from a Oblitus Casa Twitter account that Mortimer was going to make his final appearance in Oblitus Casa. This further backs up the fact that Radiance themselves have retweeted the tweet of their work in progress model of Mortimer's revamped design, proving of his returning as an antagonist in the sequel.[4]
- In the original version of the game, Mortimer was broken and would never spawn.
- Ironically, he would spawn every time the player is on Night 2.
- All the player can perform to pass the night against Mortimer is to hide in the Attic until 6 AM, as Mortimer is unable to attack the player from there. This can also give the player a huge advantage to complete the night (even the hardest ones) easily when Mortimer is active, excluding Night 5, where Mortimer is completely disabled during MickMick's boss fight during said night.
- However, this is completely offset because of Mortimer's activation being completely randomized, like in the previous game.
- Mortimer's actual species is revealed to be unknown this time around.
- Mortimer is the only character in the game with the following:
- The only character that will always remain in the Office regardless if playing the music that lures most of the other characters into different rooms.
- The only character that cannot be lured into different cameras via playing the music in the cameras the player is desired to lure Mortimer (along with the other toons) in, and is the only character who cannot be restrained by the Office at all.
- However, he is also the only character whose journey to the Office can be delayed by watching Mortimer in the cameras, a trait retained from the previous game.
- He is also the only returning character with these traits.
- However, he is also the only character whose journey to the Office can be delayed by watching Mortimer in the cameras, a trait retained from the previous game.
- Besides Dippy and Pete, Mortimer is the third character in the game known to possess unnaturally realistic human-like teeth in the confines of their mouth.
- Mortimer and The Corruptus are the only characters in the game (and the series) capable of significantly changing the theme and atmosphere of their own location.

- As stated in the quote above, the only actual instrument in Mortimer's leitmotif is a piano, presumably a grand piano, played in no particular melody, key or rhythm.
- Mortimer and The Corruptus are the only characters in game that are rendered within the rooms.
- This is due to the fact that the posters in the Cabin were changed to his image from Suicidemouse.avi. This is noticeable on CAM 8, CAM 6 and the Office.
- Mortimer and The Corruptus are the only characters who have a static in their eyes.
- Unlike in the previous game, Mortimer now walks with his hands tucked behind his back, as viewed in CAM 8.
- Mortimer is the only easter egg-character to behave similarly to the antagonists of the primary nights: being in the camera's view every phase; possessing a set route to the player's Office; despite lacking a foundational game-mechanic to progress the night and prevent him from killing the player, as well as restraining Mortimer from the Office.
- One would assume Mortimer got his name from the other mouse in the "Mickey Mouse" series. However, this has been debunked. Mortimer actually gets his name from the word, "Mortem." Which means death in Latin.
- As of 2.0, Mortimer is the only Easter egg character that has a bio on the Extras section. It can be unlocked by either encountering him during the game or getting all the stars on the main menu.
