Night 1Night 2Night 3Night 4Night 5Night 6Custom Night

Description[]

Custom Night is the seventh playable night in Treasure Island, and is unlocked after beating Night 6 and Pirate Caverns 2. This night allows the player to adjust the AI levels of the characters however they see fit, as well as play various challenges with the characters at preset AI levels. There is also an Infinite Night mode, where instead of lasting until 6 AM, the player must survive for as long as they can, scoring points based on the AI levels the player had set for the night.

Custom Night also makes an appearance in Five Nights at Treasure Island: Anniversary Edition, unlocked after completing Night 5. Challenges and Infinite Night are absent from this version, however.

Mechanics[]

The player is given the ability to set the difficulty level (AI) of each available character from 0 to 20, with 0 meaning the character is essentially inactive, and 20 meaning the character is extremely aggressive. For individual characters, this can be done by hovering over the character on the selection screen, and using the '+' and '-' to adjust the AI level. The player can also adjust the AI levels of all available characters using various buttons on the right hand side of the screen. They have the option to set all AI levels to either 0, 5, 10, 15 or 20, as well as increasing all by 1. The player can then choose to play either a Normal Night, where the player must survive until 6 AM, or Infinite Night, where the player must survive for as long as they can until they are killed. In Infinite Night, the player will earn points for every in-game hour (1 minute 10 seconds in real time) that they survive, with the amount of points earned being dependent on the AI levels that the player had set for the night. Additionally, points will not be added to the hourly score for any AI difficulties under 5: a characters AI must at least be a difficulty of 5 for points to be accumulated. There is also a Challenge mode, where the player can play various challenge nights with the characters set to preset AI levels. In all challenges, the player must survive until 6 AM. More challenges are unlocked once previous challenges are completed, and/or when more characters are added to the roster.

In the Anniversary Edition, the player only has the option to increase the AI level of each character, as Challenges and Infinite Night are absent from this version.

Characters[]

There are a total of 13 characters that can be set as threats to the player on Custom Night. 7 of these characters are ones the player had already faced in the Main Game, and are available by default. The other 6 characters must be unlocked by completing certain challenges, amongst various other things.

The 7 default characters are:[]

  • Photo-Negative Mickey — Shut off a camera when it's in the Office.
  • Disembodied — Shut off a camera when it's in the Office.
  • Impurity — Shut off a camera when it's in the Office.

  • Oswald - Shut off a camera when it's in the Office.

    • Unlocked after completing 'The Classics' challenge.
  • Sparky — Turn off the lights when it's in the Office.
    • Unlocked after completing the 'Big Creatures' challenge.

In the Anniversary Edition, all 6 characters present in the Main Game are present on Custom Night.

In both versions of Custom Night, the player also has the chance of spotting the various Easter Egg characters present in the games. In the case of Mortimer, he will still deactivate all active characters while he is active, and they will reactivate after Mortimer is deactivated.

Strategies[]

True Nightmare[]

In True Nightmare, the player is required to use six total mechanics:

  • Shutting off a camera to lure someone out of the Office;
  • Standing still to lure someone out of the Office;
  • Turning off the lights to lure someone out of the Office;
  • Going to a certain camera to prevent someone from spawning in the Office and killing the player;
  • Not using the camera in any manner and also shutting off the camera they appear in to prevent someone from spawning in the Office and killing the player;
  • Simply flipping up the monitor to force someone to leave the Office.

Since every single character including those unlocked from the previous Custom Night challenges is active, there are two extra mechanics necessary to deal with everyone and complete the night. Quick reflexes are also necessary due to the number of characters capable of appearing at once, along with sharp vision due to Oswald's outline being hidden from the player's view.

Additionally, everyone makes the same sound cue when entering the Office itself, and so needing to hear for anyone actually entering won't be of use in this challenge, with the exception of Undying since he makes his signature deep groans underneath the rest of the noise produced by everyone else, and can be easy to differentiate from the rest of the atmosphere.

When a combination of different mechanics are involved, it is important to deal with the characters who require the monitor to be lured out of the Office prior to dealing with anyone who requires standing still or turning off the lights, as characters of whose mechanic revolves around the monitor are given an advantage when the player uses a mechanic that takes up more time than if they were to shut off a camera, with the addition of potentially having to search for an already-active camera to shut off beforehand which also isn't too difficult if the player can count which cameras they have already shut off, as there are only four directly hostile characters capable of ending the night active out of the thirteen who use that exact mechanic, or simply flip up the monitor.

Due to Oswald being a character invisible to the player with the lights enabled and when Disembodied spawns in the middle of the Office, it is recommended to immediately get rid of him when a character using a mechanic that doesn't require a camera being shut off spawns in the Office before he does. This is also to be done when, generally speaking, a character who requires a camera to be shut off enters the Office late after a character who uses a mechanic besides that mechanic, as the camera-disabling character's mechanic is taking advantage of the long period required to get rid of another character whom doesn't use the cameras being shut off.

There is also Pete, whom the player has to actively search for to find the camera he is in. However, this causes the player to lose speed and focus as he can be in any camera and is unpredictable compared to everyone else. He can also redirect the player to a camera Willy is in and can potentially cause him to advance to another stage by proxy of staring. If Pete and Willy attack together, shutting off the camera they appear in at once has the potential to get rid of them both.

If any Easter Egg characters who are directly hostile and capable of ending the night appear unexpectedly, like Mortimer and The Forgotten One, the player should either reset the night to play a fair game for Mortimer's ability to deactivate currently active characters, or continue to play consistently for the need of the muscle memory to quickly raise the monitor after lowering it again in case of The Forgotten One's unexpected appearance in the run.

Trivia[]

  • Although setting a character to 0 deactivates most characters, Willy has been seen to be active on Custom Night even if playing on a preset where his level is supposedly set to 0, and even before he is unlocked. This is a very rare occurrence, and more than likely is just a bug or an oversight in Willy's AI.
  • A player can only score points in the Custom Night feature for the official game if at least one camera character is set to '4'. This mechanic is implemented as a way to invoke an effort from the player.
  • Classic version of Oswald was considered to be added to the roster as an unlockable character for Custom Night. However, according to the developers, they declined adding him because they felt there were already enough characters that the player dealt with by shutting off cameras.
  • The song that plays on the menu for the Custom Night feature is called "Drifting Time Misplaced" by The Caretaker. It's a more atmospheric remix of the introductory piano melody of "Lullaby of the Leaves" by Layton & Johnstone, adding extra reverberation and bass to the track and layering it with extra vinyl, giving the song a highly secluded and lonesome feeling appropriate for a Five Nights at Freddy's type of game.
  • Remastered 2.0 was the first version to have a Custom Night planned for it.
  • It was planned for Custom Night in 4.0 to take place on Floor 3.

Description[]

Custom Night is the seventh playable night in Oblitus Casa, and is unlocked after beating Night 5. This night allows the player to adjust the AI levels of the characters however they see fit, as well as play various presets with the characters at preset AI levels, as well as special Challenges based on various creepypastas.

Mechanics[]

The player is given the ability to set the difficulty level (AI) of each available character from 0 to 20, with 0 meaning the character is essentially inactive, and 20 meaning the character is extremely aggressive. For individual characters, this can be done by hovering over the character on the selection screen, and using left or right mouse button to adjust the AI level. The player can also check a "Uncap AI" box on the bottom of the screen, making it possible to set characters AI above typically capped 20. Aside from that, it's also possible to add 1 AI to all unlocked characters by using one of the two buttons on the left of the "Uncap AI" box, the second one removing one AI point from all. There is also a Challenge mode on the top of the screen, although it doesn't work like one would expect it to do. There are four "Creepypasta Challenges" based on the Adventure Mode from Five Nights at Treasure Island 2.0. These challenges aren't pre-sets, and instead serve as special levels based on four legendary creepypasta characters. Unlike the main mode, Jeff The Killer, Eyeless Jack and Slenderman don't take place in the cabin, instead being the Tunnels for Slenderman and Eyeless Jack, and Jeff being inside the Post-Mortem location. Smile Dog is the only one of the four that takes place in the Cabin, as well as has the only challenge that can be activated along having other characters active as well. Beating one of the challenges will reward the player with one of Custom Night exclusive characters. After beating all four of them, the preset nights will be unlocked, but unlike Five Nights at Treasure Island, almost all of them are avaible from the start, the only exception being True Nightmare, the final challenge.

Characters[]

The base characters are:[]

  • Willie — Lure him to nearby rooms with the music. Don't let him near your Office doors.
  • Belial — Erase her drawing on the notepad.
  • Daisy — Flash her in the cameras.
  • Corrupted Face — Shine your lighter on him when he enters the Attic.
  • Photo-Negative Minnie — Flash her in the cameras.
  • Pete — Do not shine your lighter on him when he enters the Attic.
  • Dippy — Lure him to nearby rooms with the music. Don't let him near the window.

The unlockable characters are:[]

  • Cabin Face — Grab his eyeball (RMB) when he enters the Attic.
  • Photo-Negative Mickey — Shut off a camera (SPACE) when he enters your Office.
  • Slester — Look away from him when he enters your Office.
    • Unlocked after completing the Slenderman challenge.
  • Oswald — Shut off a camera (SPACE) when he enters your Office.
    • Unlocked after completing the Smile Dog challenge.
  • Inkblot MickMick — Blink (SHIFT) when he enters your Office.
  • The Corruptus — Do not stare at his duplicates in the cameras.
    • Unlocked after completing the 'Nightmare' challenge.

The 2.0 update adds Custom Nights for Post-Mortem as well. All 6 Shades are unlocked by default:

  • Shade Photo-Negative Mickey — Stab Your Best Friend when he enters your Office.

  • Shade Sadie — Collect Mickey heads in the cameras, do not take long.

Alongside the Shades, Custom Post-Mortem also has the additional presets:

  • Head Amount — The amount of Mickey Heads the player needs to collect. It caps at 99 Heads.
  • Fake Heads — Spawn 2 fake heads alongside the real one, clicking these will fade them away.
  • Flawless — Make any mistake and Sadie will jumpscare you. (Mistakes include stabbing YBF inappropriately or letting him escape; allowing Shade Goofy or Donald to attack.)
  • YBF Hide — Your Best Friend will leave your hand after a short period of time, find him in the office before he escapes forever.

Challenges[]

Standard challenges:[]

All standard challenges (aside from True Nightmare) are unlocked after beating every Creepypasta challenge, even if not all of the characters are unlocked. The player can start any challenge even without all characters required, the challenge will still play like always, just without the locked characters. Weirdly enough, the locked characters will still be active, but only after the player dies and comes back by Post-Mortem. As for now, it's not known if the challenges being playable in such state is intentional or not.

Strategies[]

True Nightmare[]

This challenge is all about listening, stalling, and most importantly, timing. There is a certain pattern to the characters that if memorized, will make the challenge easier. As the night starts, use the notepad, blink when Inkblot MickMick appears (since he's the first to attack), and after that, go to the monitor and click on CAM 2. Once there, the player is able to stall Willie and Dippy, as it is the best camera to do so. Photo-Negative Minnie can be flashed there whenever she appears. After successfully luring them, go to the Attic, even if there is no sound cue playing, it is better to go to the Attic early to deal with the characters that appear there quicker (the characters that appear is RNG, so there is no pattern to them). Of course, shine the lighter at The Face, get out if Pete's in the room, and quickly grab Cabin Face's eye.

Once leaving the Attic, pull up the monitor to flash Photo-Negative Minnie and lure Willie and Dippy, and then use the notepad to erase Belial. Note that Photo-Negative Mickey and Oswald are seen in CAM 2 as well, and if the player know their routes and see if they're gone, they know who's coming next (Photo-Negative Mickey has a faster path, due to going towards CAM 4). The Corruptus and Slester do not matter, since the player can easily ignore them, however, they need to be careful about Daisy, as even if she only appears in the third camera the player clicks, she is able to suddenly pop up in the second camera they click, so it is best to stall Daisy in a random room as always (another tip to get rid of Daisy when Photo-Negative Mickey and/or Oswald is in the Office is to click on the second or third camera to shut off, then click on an another camera to send Daisy there (if the player clicks on the second camera), then go back to CAM 2).

However, going to the Attic part may be tricky, as even if the player goes to the Attic early or late, there's a chance that Photo-Negative Mickey and/or Oswald will appear, and they will attack quickly after leaving the Attic. Know what is the best time to go to the Attic; shut off a camera to repel those two, or after leaving the Attic, get rid of them. Rinse and repeat this technique, and it'll be done in no time.

Trivia[]

  • Belial will always be active in almost any night, as her AI level is not selectable from the roster. The only exception is the Smile Dog challenge, as its drawing replaces Belial's on the notepad.
  • As a funny joke, Lockjaw from a popular fangame series "The Return to Freddy's" was intended as a Custom Night exclusive character, but was removed as his spot wasn't very justified and could be used for a more interesting character.
  • Photo-Negative Mickey and Oswald are the only characters that have the same mechanic description.
  • The Treasure Island preset challenge references the original 1.0 demo of Five nights at Treasure Island. All the characters that are active originate from that original demo.
    • Although Dippy did not originate from Treasure Island, it can be assumed that it is more likely referencing Acephalous, as both toons are based on Goofy.
  • The Abandoned Discovery Island preset challenge references the fan made revival of Treasure Island, “Abandoned: Discovery Island,” with all the characters active appearing in that same fan game.
    • The Corruptus having the highest difficulty likely references the fact they originated from the revival.
    • Just like with the Treasure Island challenge, it can be assumed that Dippy is active to more likely reference Acephalous.
  • The Duck Hunt challenge references the classic NES game from 1984, “Duck Hunt,” with Shade Donald referencing the ducks, whilst Shade Goofy references the infamous dog.
